Want engaged employees? Start here.

Every leader wants a team that’s energized and all-in — but how do you actually spark that kind of passion in others?

In this quick video, I’m sharing an entertaining story (involving my husband and our girls' friends) to illustrate one of the most powerful and overlooked ways to ignite passion on your team.

  • Well, one of the things every leader wants is a group of passionate employees, a team that's passionate about the work they're doing, passionate about the mission they're serving, passionate about the clients that they are helping. And it's hard to figure out how do I make my employees more passionate?

And I would say probably the best driver of passion in employees is the passion you feel and exhibit yourself.

Probably the best example I can think of this is my husband. He is a diehard Philadelphia Eagles fan, and that passion is like a deep burning passion.

Well, whenever our girls have friends over, typically the, the way he connects with them is by talking about the Eagles and trying to convert them to become Eagles fans. He teaches them the Eagles fight song and sings it with passion. He often is putting an Eagle's jersey on them getting all, getting them all outfitted. I mean, his passion is contagious and you can't help but be drawn to it.

And so leaders, if you are wanting to see more passion in your employees, I would challenge you to step up the level of passion that you are exhibiting. If you show it, you will naturally invite them into feeling similar levels of the same passion.
